5 sports pour profiter pleinement de l'hiver

5 sports to make the most of winter

Winter is a season that makes us want to stay warm, wrapped up in a soft blanket in front of a good Netflix series. However, the best way to appreciate the joys of winter is to go outside, move and marvel at the beautiful landscapes! Here are my 5 favorite sports to enjoy this season!

_______

Skate

Since I moved to the Outaouais, I have been blessed to be able to discover several skating rinks, each as unique as the next. Indeed, in addition to being able to walk on the Rideau Canal, the largest skating rink in the world, you can also skate in a frozen labyrinth at Éco-Odyssée (Wakefield), on a golf course at Sentier du Petit Pengouin (Gatineau) and in the heart of nature at Patinage en forêt (Lac-des-Loups).

fatbike

It was last winter that I discovered a real passion for fat bikes. My husband and I bought our own and we love to go exploring the trails in the forest behind our house. If this is your first time discovering this sport, or if you want to try other trails, I recommend you go for a ride at Le Harfang Fatbike and snowshoes , in Gatineau, or Montebello Vélo de montagne .

Racket

What could be better than a breath of fresh air to clear your mind! Each time a new snowfall has fallen, I put on my snowshoes and go for a walk in the forest. When my husband is not with me, I like to listen to a podcast or a catchy playlist that makes me forget my worries to focus fully on the present moment.

cross-country skiing

Not being a big fan of downhill skiing, I prefer the tranquility offered by cross-country skiing. Gatineau Park offers magnificent cross-country ski trails for all levels of experience. The circuits are well maintained and we let ourselves be carried away by the beauty of the winter landscape that surrounds us. The Relais Plein air , the Center de plein air du Lac Leamy and the Parc du Lac-Beauchamp offer cross-country ski and snowshoe rentals (it's free with the Accès Gatineau + card).

To find other cross-country ski locations elsewhere in Quebec, we invite you to consult the Bonjour Québec website , a directory of locations throughout Quebec.

elvi space

Finally, last fall I discovered the Espace elvi experiences, combining movement, presence and well-being. By subscribing to the online platform, you will have access to a whole selection of videos to move on a daily basis with music that makes you vibrate, but also to stretching and meditations.

I had a big crush on the dynamism of Sandra, the founder, who really invites us to take a moment for ourselves, which is in line with the mission behind the #momentPero.

Remember to stay hydrated!

Do you remember to bring your reusable water bottle during your sports activities? Insulated steel water bottles are ideal, since they keep your drink hot or cold for hours, in addition to being resistant and durable.

When you return, why not make yourself a delicious hot chocolate, which you can enjoy in a magnificent mug! I really like the mixtures of Chocolats Favoris and I suggest you add a touch of ChocoCrème for maximum happiness!
