Comment créer son oasis tropical sur la terrasse ou le balcon en été!

How to create your tropical oasis on the terrace or balcony in summer!

If you are someone who is passionate about plants like me, having the option of embellishing your terrace during the beautiful summer season and thus creating a place of serenity is just magical!

I like to take the time to decorate this space with herb plants, plants of all kinds, colorful flowers, a reading corner with a couch and cushions, and of course, a table to create #momentpero during outdoor dinners.

Choosing the right plants for your balcony is essential to creating a welcoming and pleasant space. Here are some tips to help you make the right choice:

  1. Sun resistance: Opt for plants that tolerate direct exposure to sunlight, as terraces can be very sunny during the summer. Examples of sun-tolerant plants are geraniums, lavenders, hibiscus and succulents.

  2. Heat Resistance: Make sure the plants you choose can handle summer's high temperatures without wilting or drying out quickly. Mediterranean plants, such as olive trees, bougainvillea and palm trees, are often adapted to these conditions.

  3. Choose plants suited to the size of your patio: Consider the space available on your patio before selecting plants. Choose plants that thrive in appropriately sized pots or planters.

  4. Pay attention to water requirements: During hot summer days, plants need regular watering. Choose plants that have similar water requirements for ease of care. Examples of plants that require little water are succulents, lavenders and yuccas.

  5. Variety of colors and textures: Opt for a variety of plants with different colors and textures to create an interesting visual appearance on your patio. This can include flowering plants, plants with colorful foliage and climbing plants.

  6. Consider exposure and air circulation: If your patio is exposed to strong winds, choose plants that can withstand these conditions. Also make sure that the plants do not completely block air circulation on your patio.

  7. Consider insects and pollinators: If you want to attract butterflies, bees and other pollinators, choose plants that offer flowers rich in nectar and pollen, such as lavender, hydrangea and sunflowers.

  8. Maintenance and Ease of Growing: If you don't have a lot of time for maintenance, choose plants that are easy to grow and require little attention, such as succulents, aloes or aromatic herbs.

  9. Provide an effective drainage system: Make sure your pots and planters have drainage holes to prevent water accumulation, which can lead to root rot.

  10. Visit your local garden centers and florists, they will be able to advise you on the many possible options. I recommend some of my favorites: Botanix , Fleur Excel , Rose Drummond , La serpentine Ecolo and Fleuribulle

By following these tips, you will be able to choose the perfect plants for your patio during the summer, creating an attractive and pleasant environment in which to enjoy your outdoor space.
